  • Sharpsburg, Maryland--Canoeist pass Burnside's  Bridge while paddling the Antietam Creek. The bridge is the site were 400 Georgian  confederate troops held Maj. Gen. Ambrose Burnside's 12,500 troops at bay for hours during the Battle of Antietam, September 17, 1862. The Battle of Antietam was the bloodiest day in U.S. Military history with 22,717 casualties, including the 3,654 soldiers killed.

  • Annapolis, Maryland-- a boater amkes his way from the water on Spa Creek behind St. Mary's Catholic Church. St Mary's Church, in the Historic District of Annapolis was built on the property of Revolutionary patriot Charles Carroll of Carrollton, the only Catholic signer of the Declaration of Independence . The church was concencrated in 1860. Annapolis is known as the "Sailing Capital of the World."
